I went into this book knowing exactly three things:

1. There were dragons.
2. There was magic.
3. It was Why Choose.

Sold! To the feral woman in the back.

By the end?

I was emotionally attached to a sarcastic dragon, fully invested in a centuries-old curse, and ready to throw hands with Vale.

What are you looking for in your romantasy?

Dragons? ✔️
Shifters? ✔️
Witches? ✔️
Vampires? You guessed it. ✔️

Vale might actually be my favorite kind of heroine. She’s powerful and doesn’t even know it, traumatized without being defined by it, and possesses the rare ability to tell kings, generals, and assorted magical idiots exactly where they can stick their opinions.

(Yes, that last one is my favorite trait.) 🙃

The woman spent years hiding her magic to survive, protecting her sister, surviving impossible odds, and still somehow found the energy to be the sassiest person in every room she entered.

I won’t even get into her flambé skills.
(IYKYK.)

As for the men…

Kian started off rough. Sir fully committed to the playground strategy.
Can’t have her?
Guess I’ll be a jerk.
Are you going to pull her pigtails next?

Xavier is out here handing out compliments like participation trophies and somehow feeling left out when he is very much included in the group project.

Idris is carrying enough emotional baggage to qualify as oversized luggage. And he’s getting a crash course in the exact lesson the curse was apparently supposed to teach him.
Not like he’s had 200 years to work on that or anything. 🙄

But yeah, obviously I love all three of them.

They must be protected at all costs.

But let’s be honest.
What we all really want is a sassy dragon.
Enter ✨Rune.✨

A giant dragon with attitude, sarcasm, unsolicited commentary, and approximately zero patience for Idris’s nonsense.

I would die for him.

Probably not by voluntarily walking off a cliff, though. Because despite what this book would have you believe, there is not a single man alive worth that level of commitment.

Not one.

Anyway, if you like dragons, curses, found family, powerful heroines, possessive men who desperately need therapy, and a why-choose romance that actually gets the relationship building right, Ruined Wings was one hell of a start to the series.
