Emily absolutely delivered with book two. If book one was a slow burn, book two was someone lighting the match and walking away without looking back.

Iโll be damned if George didnโt grow on me like a benign tumor. Our reluctant duke gets a full-blown growth arc, and I was here for every second of it. His friendship with Rosalie? Adorable. The quiet, roundabout way he showed he cared for James? Genuinely heartwarming. And the way he finally put the duchess in her place? Immediate Team George.
I didnโt expect the dynamic between the men to evolve the way it did, but it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the story. Their balance as a group just works. The Ton can clutch their pearls all they want โ Rosalie was out here thriving, and frankly, they were all jealous.
The heat absolutely ramps up in this installment. What simmered in book one ignites here, and the payoff feels earned rather than rushed.
As for the duchessโฆ I wonโt say she grew on me, but I did appreciate her eventual acknowledgment of the relationship โ and her reluctant approval of Rosalie, even if it was hard-won.
All in all, this felt like a satisfying escalation from book one. Bigger emotions, higher stakes, stronger relationships. Exactly what I wanted.
