And now I’m supposed to move on with my life like I didn’t make this book my entire personality for the week I spent reading it?

What am I supposed to do now, L.J.?

People are always complaining about books or series being too long, but I would’ve happily taken a few hundred more pages. I wanted more Kael and Brynn. More Thane becoming best friends with Gunter and Auki. More Roark interactions with Sindri. I would gladly donate half a liver for a chapter of Sindri getting to speak with Nivek through the mirror.

A duology wasn’t enough 💀
I’m claiming emotional damage.

As always, the supporting characters absolutely delivered. I loved all of Roark’s childhood friends immediately. Gunter holds a special place in my heart for… reasons. Though I will say… his ability to smell bonds is equal parts fascinating and slightly unsettling. Please take those investigative sniffs elsewhere, sir.

I was fully prepared to hate Elisabet, but she ended up growing on me. Know who did not grow on me? Virki and Fadey — the pair of noxious trash sacks.

And now I’ve accidentally pictured Sindri as Bran Stark and there’s no going back from that.

While we’re on the topic, did anyone else picture these characters as Game of Thrones counterparts?

Now that Roark and Lyra’s story is wrapped up, I’m desperately hoping L.J. has set up Thane the Bold for his own series. I’m also putting this out into the universe right now: Thane is giving me very strong CinnaDom vibes.
