Me: “Nat, you wrote this review a year ago… “
Also Me: “๐Shame”
Now that I’ve shamed myself, if you’re looking for a book that will suck you in completely and have you laughing out loud, this oneโs for youโjust make sure you’ve read the first two!
I love reading, and while I enjoy every book, itโs rare that I have as much fun as I did with this one. Hannahโs humor is basically my soulmate.
Is “FINALLY” a trope? Because if it is, then this is it.
I was legitimately ready to grab a pitchfork and start a riot if The Villain and Evie didnโt get over their hangups and finally:
A. Admit they loved each other (which even a blind man could see), and
B. Give in to the attraction simmering between them.
I knew the spice level would be minimal, but Evie and Trystan finally together? ๐ฅ Thatโs enough heat to fuel an entire bonfire. All the flirtation and those tiny moments between them had me kicking my legs and squealing.

DEAD AGAIN.
I have way too many thoughts on this one ๐๐
Some might argue that this series should’ve been a trilogy rather than a four-book saga, and that maybe the authorโs stretching it a bit, but Iโm going to disagree.
Maybe I wouldโve felt that way with book three, but honestly? This oneโs my favorite of them all.
Sure, there are subplots galore, and some might find them distracting, with twists, turns, and “dun-dun” moments that could come off as cheesy.
But if you have any ability to suspend disbelief while reading a literal fairy tale inspired book, youโll be fine.
I loved all the different POVs, especially our little cheese nugget, Kingsley. After that ending, Iโm already planning to hit pre-order on book four as soon as it drops.
Hannah sets it up to look like thereโs something shady about Kingsley at the end, but I absolutely refuse to believe heโs anything but prince charming.
I had a suspicion about the prince in the prophecy not being Kingsley, but I did not expect what King Benedict revealed. That just goes to show how much:
A. He sucks
B. Amara sucks
Actually, Amara more than sucks. Iโm not sure whoโs more evil, her or Benedict.
Okay, pauseโฆ am I the only one who pictures him as an eggs benedict with a crown? Just me? Alright, moving on.
We didnโt get to see any of Malcom Maverine, and I kind of hope we see more of the third Maverine sibling in book four. Iโm also curious to see how Winnifred will continue to shape the dynamics of the story.
โจMid-read thought sprinklesโจ
- This one was twisted (no seriously, there’s a lot going on)โbut in the best way.
- Morally grey Evie is giving me life.
- Someone put a collar on Kingsley before he hurts himselfโthough, if a ball and chain didnโt work, I guess itโs a moot point.
- If only we all got promoted at the rate Evie does.
- Evie Sage can be SAVAGE.

“๐ผ ๐๐๐๐ง ๐๐ง๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ ๐๐ฉ ๐ข๐ ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐.”๐๐คฃ - Arthur ๐
- Do frogs go through first puberty??? ๐ค
- Evie relentlessly wearing The Villain down deserves some kind of award.
- Winnie andโฆ ๐ธ๐
- Someone needs to tell me what Marv was thinking right meow.
- Lyssa continues to be a little terror, and I love it. I love that The Villain has had multiple tea parties with her by now.
- I just want a hug from Tatianaโs dad. ๐ฅน

“I’d never. Even if all the magic in the land seeped from the ink on my skin and yours. If you’re hurt or in danger, I will find you. I swear it.”
I can’t wait to see the tables turn and Trystan become the one doing the wearing down. Iโm anxiously awaiting book four and (hopefully) everyoneโs happily-ever-afters.
(Except Benedict and Amaraโthey can choke.)
“Accomplice. She’s my accompliceโฆ She is mine.”
