This was such a fun read! I’ve read many a vampire story in my time, and plenty of vampy MMCs have tried to sink their teeth into my heart—but Zav? ZAV?! Zav obliterated the competition and shot straight to #1 vamp boyfriend status.

Let’s be honest: Zav makes this entire book. He’s an unhinged, chaotic little ray of bloodsucking sunshine who hooks you in the first chapter and never lets go. I am, however, extremely curious how he kept popping up in all those random jobs without raising suspicion. Like… at the diner, the actual server came back. So, unless he’s secretly replacing people and stashing bodies—he’s just really committed to the bit. (We hope.)

Also, I need to know what exactly they were doing to Valen while he was captive. I’m holding out hope we’ll get answers in Ava’s book. (Along with more Zav and Celine. Preferably a lot more Zav and Celine.)

Celine and Ava are peak millennials, no notes. Only a millennial can be told, “Hey, vampires are real,” see proof, and just kinda shrug. Vampires? Cool. But have you tried crippling student debt, late-stage capitalism, or surviving a pandemic? Vamps are practically a vacation.

Vampire things I loved:

• They can be in the sun without combusting—love that for them.
• Fangboners. That’s it. That’s the note.
• They can eat human food and only need a bit of blood to survive. Because no one deserves to go without cheese for eternity.
• Bonus points for the fact that vampirism doesn’t magically fix everything.
