I vaguely remember Kate posting about her Hozier-inspired book and me immediately commenting something along the lines of: “Haven’t read it yet, but five stars.” Turns out—my psychic book reviewer powers were spot on.
Being in the 𝘒𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 channel and seeing all the sneaky peeks made me feel like a fly on the wall in Kate’s office. (Okay, that sounds mildly stalkerish… but in the fun, supportive fangirl way. Promise.)
That said—if Tom Halloran were real? I’d have to rethink my stance on stalking. Where exactly does one order a Tom? (Hypothetically of course… since I’m happily married to my own MMC 😅).
This book was UGH, just so good. Clementine and Tom gave me everything. You’d think the “terrified, love-averse cynic” + “hopeless romantic” combo would feel cliché—but in Kate’s hands it’s gorgeous, witty, and full of yearning. Their banter, the slow burn, the stolen moments… every time Tom opened his mouth to say something panty-melting my brain short-circuited in the best way.
And then there’s the supporting cast, who deserve their own love letters:
- Connor — forever my “what did he just say?” king
- Molly — black cat queen; Morticia Addams energy all the way
- Indy — chaotic pixie, certified delight
- Lionel — please be my bestie immediately
- Grayson — eat. shit.
- Jen — let me get you a double serving, babe
✨Bonus fangirl moment✨ I even made some coloring pages (because of course I did). If “to be loved is to be known” doesn’t belong on a page of doodled oranges and florals… well, then I don’t know what does.
𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Kate gave us music, yearning, found family, and a rockstar romance that hit every note. Five stars, obviously.
