Excuse me but… that cliffhanger should be illegal. The only reason I’m not throwing a tantrum is because I already downloaded book two and will be starting it the second I hit “post” on this review 😅.
I’ll admit, when I saw “seven guys” in the blurb, I had a moment of… girl, that’s a lot of logistics. But honestly? Mina needs all seven of them. She deserves every ounce of that love and then some.
Mina’s backstory is brutal. She’s spent 11 years trapped in horrific conditions with a mother who is, to put it delicately… an abusive psychopathic piece of garbage.
Mina doesn’t speak (selective mutism is hinted at), so she’s never been able to fight back. When her mother suddenly dumps her in school, she crosses paths with Gideon, Tucker, Jasper, and Max, who instantly connect with her and step up to protect her.
Couple of quick thoughts:
- Yes, it’s very insta-love, but Shona makes it work. The guys’ focus is almost always on protecting Mina, not constant lusty monologues, which feels refreshing compared to a lot of RH.
- I really hope we find out why Mina’s mom suddenly decided school was a good idea after 11 years. If not, it’s going to feel like a plot hole I can’t stop poking at.
The guys each bring their own flavor of protective, and it’s impossible not to root for all of them once you see how much they care for Mina.
📝 My running theories while reading:
- Brad = little psychopath, but not the killer.
- Simon? Oh, he’s 100% the killer.
- The twins will be her first intimacy (calling it now).
- And please, for the love of all things holy, let her mom rot in the deepest pit of hell.
This was such a binge-worthy read. Shona has once again personally victimized my sleep schedule. Now excuse me—it’s 2:30 p.m., and if I start book two right now, I can still finish before bedtime.
