Scarlett. You. Freaking. Killed. It.

I couldn’t have asked for a better story for Butcher. After King, I should’ve known better than to doubt you’d take this rough-around-the-edges, emotionally constipated man and make me absolutely adore him by the end.

I LOVED that his entire arc was centered around getting a second chance—to build a life and a family he’s proud of. And the fact that it’s Butcher being the one to make the sacrifices instead of Greer? #Yes. It hit that much harder.

His growth throughout the book was so satisfying—finally acknowledging and embracing the changes happening in the MC, even if it meant confronting things he’d buried deep. And can we talk about how these badass men are somehow the most emotionally vulnerable with each other?? That final scene in Church had me full-on blubbering.

Greer’s arc was just as strong. I loved watching her discover and lean into new sides of herself. And her ability to give Butcher hell? Iconic. But honestly, that was just a bonus stacked on top of a character I already respected.

And lastly—Scarlett, thank you for giving me my serotonin in the form of Avery and Niro shenanigans. Literal cherry on top.

The Heart We Guard will be here on August 7th, and you should absolutely run to download it! (and yes, it’s on KU 😎)
