Mateo Santos-Manolo is everything. Just when you think it can’t get better than River, Mateo struts into the chat like, “Hi, I’m your new obsession.”

The way this man falls hard for Nessa? I have no words—just squeals. I’m a sucker for some top-tier pining, and oh boy, did he bring the angst. I also have a soft spot for a man who treats his woman like the sun rises and sets with her—and if that doesn’t describe Mateo, I don’t know what does.

Nessa? Classic First Daughter energy. Carrying the weight of the world, convinced she has to be everything for everyone (wait… am I still reviewing or journaling?👀😅).

We don’t get too deep into Nessa’s history with her ex, but we learn enough to know Caleb was a toxic dumpster fire in khakis. Her admission that she felt ashamed for not realizing his behavior was abusive sooner? That hit. Abuse doesn’t always wear a name tag, and recognizing it—really naming it for what it is—is hard. That scene had me feeling things.

Also? FRIENDS reference? Automatic five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Shae calling Nessa out during her one-woman pity party? Chef’s kiss. Iconic. I can only hope that if I ever need to drag a sibling out of their spiral, I channel that same level of loving but savage truth-telling.

Jordana’s ability to bring real, often unspoken issues onto the page without derailing the story is chef’s kiss perfection. It’s thoughtful without being heavy-handed, and it sticks with you in the best way.

Listen—I laughed, I choked up, I rage-sighed. I basically boarded the emotional rollercoaster at Peacock Springs and white-knuckled it the whole ride.
