Apparently, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of rereads because, despite the (MANY) books sitting in my TBR pile, my mood keeps steering me toward stories I’ve already read.

This was my second time reading Velvet.  I love everything Lisette Marshall has written, but The Princess and the Spy series is neck and neck with Fae Isles—which is no small statement!

I absolutely adore Jaghar and Vivette. There’s something so powerful about both the MFC and MMC using their minds and bodies to uncover secrets, yet it never feels like a “big deal” in the grand scheme of things. The fact that Vivette’s sexuality doesn’t define her—especially in a story where she’s a young royal—is refreshing.

I completely forgot how much I despise Rosin (and I know it’s only going to get worse—ugh). And don’t even get me started on Kaarina and Mauno—vile, the both of them.

That said, Mauno becoming an Olympic diver brought me so much joy. (IYKYK)

I can’t wait to start the next book—I just want Jaghar and Viví to last forever.

If you’re anything like me and love diving deep into whichever world and characters you’re currently reading about, check out Damask, a free Princess and the Spy novella; this takes place between Velvet and book two, Leather.
