Excuse me while I just… internal/external/alternate reality *screams*

Elle came for our throats right from page one—no games, just vibes.

Hooked from the start? Absolutely. Though, I’ll admit, the first four chapters took their time to pick up the pace. But looking back, I think it was a slow-burn setup, priming us for the delicious chaos ahead. I’m always game for fresh spins on familiar lore, and Elle’s take on the Ferryman and Death was truly captivating. Plus, I loved how the story made us question if it’s fair for Kat to fight against her curse and cheat death? It’s not often you find yourself mulling over the ethics of staying alive.

I had mixed feelings at first about The Ferrier’s POV—it felt a bit stiff. But as the story unfolded, I realized it’s exactly how his perspective should feel. And once we fully dive into his mind, let’s just say I wouldn’t mind an imbalance in POVs in the next book if it means more of him. 😅

Yes, the romance is a slow burn, and the steam is more of a simmer, but we still get moments like:

“𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔. 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒃𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.”

“𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘧.”

“𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒅, 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒖𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚, 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒆.

Needless to say, my soul left my body, and I am still waiting for its safe return. 💀
