Forget Beauty and forget the Beast; it’s the banter that truly shines! This book was a blast—engaging characters, a snappy plot, and enough sarcasm to keep me grinning throughout. Plus, a few unexpected twists kept things interesting.

“Felix Truthholder, I name you a beast in the form of a man. Let your nature show true. Until the day you learn to love, and find someone who admits their love for you though you cannot hide your true self, I curse you to wear the form of a beast as matches your heart.”

Lady Cecily, the Duke of Truthhold’s catty ex-lover, curses him in a fit of pique—and, surprise, the curse actually works. Now Felix is stuck in a beastly bind and left pondering some serious questions:

– WTF? (He doesn’t say it, but come on, you know he’s thinking it.)

– How did Cecily manage to curse him when the node magic should only work for him?

– What does his new beastly form say about his true nature? (Inquiring minds need to know @Jen!)

– Seriously, WTF?

Isabel Cardh, unwillingly recruited (ahem, conscripted), is dragged into this mess thanks to her father’s poor choices and reluctantly agrees to help Felix break the curse. She’s not thrilled about it, but Isa doesn’t mince words, and she’ll gladly tell the duke exactly what she thinks about his predicament.

“Not calling the duke an idiot had stretched the limits of my tact for the next month, at least.”

***Sidebar: If Felix is the Beast and Isa is Belle, then Edwin is Maurice—except he’s a jerk, and no one would mind if he got locked up in a castle.***

With no other options, Isa dives in to help Felix. Together, they uncover magical secrets, reveal a villainous plot, and, much to their annoyance, realize they enjoy each other’s company (though they’d never admit it).

Jen’s take on truth-related magic was refreshing. She masterfully explores the nuances between truth and lies, highlighting the grey areas we often navigate.

If I ever need legal representation, Isabell Cardh is my girl. No wonder Felix fell for her so quickly—she’s smart, witty, magically gifted, sarcastic, and brutally honest. Too bad she’s fictional because she’d make an amazing friend.

Overall, this book was fantastic, and I highly recommend adding it to your TBR!

“Deceiving the Cursed Beast” will be available on June 27th and can be pre-ordered now on Amazon for $0.99!
